Welcome to the Dawn Installation at Project Row Houses Blog. The Dawn Installation Project is being led by documentary filmmaker and educator, Carroll Parrott Blue, author of The Dawn At My Back: A Memoir of a Black Texas Upbringing, published in 2003.

This 2006 initiative is a collaborative effort between Project Row Houses, the University of Houston and other community partners and the blog will be used to discuss a variety of issues, including, but not limited to:

1. the history of Project Row Houses
2. the devolpment of a multimedia walking tour of Houston's Third Ward
3. the demise and rebirth of urban neighborhoods
4. the use of digital storytelling to document the history residents of the Third Ward
5. an exploration of Houston's rich art and music heritage and its influence on today's culture
6. how students and teachers can use these materials in their classrooms
